Welcome to My Home

Hi there! I am Sam, a writer, a public speaker and a creative thinker. On this blog, I share my thoughts on writing, life, creative work and personal development.

Yaaaaaay! I am curious, what brought you here? Those articles on writing? Those thoughts on personal development? I can only say, welcome home and I am glad to have you here. Enjoy your time here while I invite the band to honour your visit with good music. I bet you can hear the beats and my sonorous voice as we give you a rapturous welcome.

Writer

Oh! Yes, I am a writer by calling. It took me seven years before I could call myself one. With over 12 years under my belt, I know how to make words sing and move readers. I have written opinion pieces, features, news articles, poems, short stories, blog posts, and viral “Facebook” posts. Do you have a hard time calling yourself a writer? Let’s have a chat.

Editor

Most part of the writing process is rewriting. With over four years as an editor, I have worked on books, blog posts, essays, articles, anthologies, and resumes. I have those quirky diagnostic lenses that search for redundancies, hard-to-read sentences, wrong usage of punctuation and poor cohesion. Trust me, I cut through the draft like a ninja but offer constructive feedback.

Coach

In 2017, I led a group of energetic writers in an online writing campaign. About fifty writers received writing prompts, tips and guides from me daily for 21 days; this was my subtle introduction into the world of coaching young writers. If you are serious about gaining your confidence as a writer, then look no further. I also offer public speaking coaching services.

In 2008, I started writing actively and I am yet to stop.

In search of myself, I experimented with different types of writing.

First, I romanced journalism and my veins popped when my pieces caused debates. I loved every bit of it – from conducting interviews to searching for the best quotes to fact-checking to writing the lead. It was fun.

Secondly, I dined with poets and feasted with storytellers. I found the tonic of suspense highly intoxicating. I danced to the rhythm of the verses aesthetically wrapped in sonnets. The literary art form captures intriguing devices that delight the soul. That’s the truth.

Thirdly, I stumbled on copywriting via blogging – an act of serendipity. I beamed with smiles at the hook that captivates the reader. The pains of unravelling the emotions that undergird problems using concrete examples. And laying the solutions in a subtle fashion before the call to action is fun.

I have tasted these sides and I can tell you that many who succeed in writing do so because they love the art. Writing carries in its pouch a certain mystical addiction that hypnotizes writers like a groom serenades his bride.

It’s impossible for them to take a break from writing. It’s the writer’s itch — a nudge to keep creating compelling pieces.

If you love writing and you are looking for a place to get a spark, you are in the right company.

On average, I publish at least one new article every week. If you don’t want to miss a thing, sign up for updates and my weekly snippets on how to get the best out of life by entering your email below:

I do learn a lot from your articles. The content and language use are products of value. In fact, I usually scrutinize every sentence- that forms those articles- in order to learn the syntax of those beautifully coined sentence structures. Don’t mind me! I’m a typical learning machine.

A bit more about this guy

I’m a Nigerian, born and raised in one of Africa’s largest cities, Ibadan, now living in Cambridge, Ontario.

I moved to Canada in 2015 after graduating from the University of Ibadan. In the university, I studied Mechanical Engineering and spent a huge portion of my undergraduate study volunteering as a campus journalist both in the broadcast and print media, which revealed my obsession with writing, speaking and making a difference in the world.

In the past 12 years, I have written hundreds of articles for media outfits, magazines, publications, and blogs. You can find some of my works on TheCable, Sahara Reporters, YNaija, ScoopNG and WRRNG, amongst many others. I recently worked as a news reporter for a Canadian newspaper, the Manitoban, for two years. I’m the creative director of Kreative Diadem, an online blog committed to celebrating and publishing established and emerging voices in the literary arts community.

I’m also a member of Toastmasters International, a club that built a formidable leader and persuasive communicator out of my feeble frame.

I love meeting new people and connecting with my community. I love poetry, good music, and photography. I love God because knowing Him is the best thing that ever happened to me.
